Our Story: A Journey from Scrumylicious to Mindful Munchies

In the whirlwind of 2020, in the midst of uncertain times, I decided to turn my passion for baking into something real. Thus, Scrumylicious was born. It started as a trial, a mere six-month project, before I headed off to pursue my dreams at a university in Spain. Surprisingly, it became an instant hit – a delightful surprise that gave me a glimpse of what could be.

Life took me away from Dubai, but my heart always stayed with baking. During vacations, I’d organize pop-ups, a way to keep the Scrumylicious magic alive.

However, something profound happened during my time away. My own health struggles, battling allergies and sensitivities, made me rethink the entire concept. I faced the pain of flare-ups triggered by processed sugars, chocolate, and gluten. It was then, at just 18, that I made a pivotal decision to say goodbye to processed sugars. Instead, I immersed myself in the world of natural substitutes – mango steam sweeteners, honey, dates, and plant-based alternatives became my new companions.

I couldn’t imagine a life without the joy of desserts, but I refused to let health issues dictate my happiness. So, the quest began – to create desserts that were not just healthy but also a delight to the taste buds. It wasn’t easy. It took countless experiments, late nights, and a dash of frustration. But, with each trial, I got closer to desserts that were just as delicious as they were gentle on the body.

Mindful Munchies is the manifestation of that journey. It’s more than a bakery; it’s a haven for those who, like me, refuse to compromise on taste for the sake of health. The menu is a labour of love, a fusion of my experiences, expertise, and a sincere commitment to crafting treats that heal as much as they please.

Today, Mindful Munchies isn’t just about baking; it’s about making a difference. It’s about educating and empowering people to make healthier choices without sacrificing flavor. Our goal is ambitious – to impact not just Dubai but spread our message across the UAE and beyond.

Join us in this flavorful journey. Let's rewrite the rules of dessert together, making mindful indulgence an everyday joy.

Hello! I’m Akanksha Nair, the founder of Mindful Munchies

Baking has been my passion since I was a kid. I dreamt of having my own pastry boutique before I hit 28. Starting small, right from home, seemed like the perfect first step to turning that dream into reality.

What keeps me going? It’s the evolving health concerns out there. I’m constantly experimenting to whip up treats that not only taste better but are also healthier. It’s not just for others, it’s for me too—I’m a fan of my own goodies!

I’m all about people. Seeing smiles light up when they take a bite of something I’ve made—that’s my jam. It’s not just about the food; it’s about creating moments that matter and leaving a little sweetness in someone’s day.

Dubai has always been home. I’m 22, living my passion. Spain was a part of my journey too—I studied Global Hospitality Management with a specialization in Entrepreneurship at Les Roches Marbella. That Ritz-Carlton internship in Qatar? Eye-opening! I was part of the pre-opening team at the VIP Club lounge, rubbing elbows with some high-profile guests who were kind enough to say nice things about me.

With Mindful Munchies, I’m on a mission—to redefine desserts and show everyone that you don’t have to choose between health and taste. I want to create a sweet haven right here in Dubai, and then, who knows, maybe the whole UAE will catch a taste of it!

I’m hungry for more learning too. In a couple of years, I plan to dive into a pastry arts diploma. It’s about refining my skills and taking this love for desserts to the next level.

So, join me! Let’s explore the sweeter side of life together, making each bite a celebration of flavor, health, and happiness.

Mindful Munchies has one of the best desserts I’ve tried till date. Not only that, but Akanksha put’s in so much love and effort into everything, that you feel and taste it. I recommend trying out the “Spice Garden”.

I tried the “Mango Bliss Cheesecake”, and it was heavenly, from the first interaction to the delivery it was very professional. Akanksha took the time to understand my flavour profile and suggest dishes that I would like. I loved how the cheesecake didn’t taste healthy at all; in fact, it tasted better. My family couldn’t believe it was healthy. She also made sure to check if I had any allergies. All in all, I felt very cared for.
